I wanted to explore other trailers or films which had a similar feel to Pan’s labyrinth but from which I could extract different information or ideas that could help me form my own trailer. I looked through a few but this one in particular stood out among the rest as the kind of thing I was looking for:
The first thing I noticed about this trailer is that it also has no voice over, an important idea which will be reflected in my trailer – i want a similar amosphere to these two trailers which is why i have made this decision.
The first noticeable thing about this trailer is that it contains dialogue – it is a full trailer rather than a teaser trailer which is maybe why but it does create a different atmosphere to a trailer with no dialogue like pan’s labyrinth. I think I probably could use dialogue in my trailer, i’m not sure yet though, i might experiment with it and then see what happens. I also noticed the change in pace, how the trailer starts slower, more of a scene with creepy. childish music and then changes – the music becomes more rhythmic, to build up the sequence fp shots and the shots flash up one after the other, quickly and just random shots from the film. This happens within the first 25 seconds, which is the up to the first ‘title screen’ – the title screens in this i noted too because except the change in text it stays the same, background colour with some kind of twisting branch almost filling the frame.
